UAE Pledge Certificate: What 'Ahd wa Waad' Is & How to Sign at Pledge.ae
Life in the UAE

This week I signed the UAE’s “Pledge and Commitment” national initiative — ‘Ahd wa Waad (عهد ووعد) — and received my Certificate of Appreciation. It took about two minutes, it’s free, and it meant more to me than I expected. Here’s what the UAE Pledge is, why I signed it, and exactly how you can get your own certificate at pledge.ae.

What is the UAE “Pledge and Commitment” initiative?
Pledge and Commitment (‘Ahd wa Waad / عهد ووعد) is a UAE national initiative launched in May 2026 by Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak Al Nahyan, the UAE Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence. It invites everyone who calls the UAE home — citizens and residents alike — to reaffirm their loyalty to the UAE’s leadership and their sense of belonging to this country.
The pledge is built around values the UAE lives by every day: coexistence and unity, civic responsibility, national identity, and gratitude for what this country has achieved. When you sign it online, you receive a personalised Certificate of Appreciation with your name on it — ready to download and share.
Why I signed it
I’m a software engineer in Abu Dhabi. I build AI systems and products here — for businesses that run on UAE infrastructure, with payments that follow UAE regulations, in an ecosystem that genuinely invests in technology and the people who build it.
The UAE gave me something rare: a place where an engineer can arrive with skills and ambition, and find real work, real safety, and a real future. Signing the pledge wasn’t a formality for me — it was a small, honest thank-you to the country I’m proud to call home, and a commitment to keep contributing to its vision, especially in AI and technology.
How to sign the UAE Pledge online (and download your certificate)

UAE Pledge FAQ
Is the UAE Pledge mandatory?
No. Signing is completely voluntary. It’s an invitation to express belonging — not a requirement.
Who can sign the UAE Pledge?
Everyone: UAE citizens and residents of any nationality. Expats are explicitly welcome — that inclusiveness is the whole point of the initiative.
Does it cost anything?
No — taking the pledge and downloading your certificate are free.
Does the UAE Pledge affect my visa or residency?
No. The pledge has no effect on visa or residency status. It is a values initiative, not an immigration procedure.
A small gesture that says a lot
Two minutes on pledge.ae won’t change your paperwork — but if the UAE has become your home, it’s a meaningful way to say so out loud. Mine is on my wall now.
